Origin of the age-related changes

Age-related cognitive changes are the result of three chief simultaneous events:

- Anatomical changes in the brain: decreases in nervous cell and axon populations, in brain size and weight, etc.

- Physiological aging of the brain: alteration of information processing in the nervous system.

- Sensory impairment: wiew alteration, deafness, etc.
